Thank you card to Jennifer Marvaree-Robinson

Sweet Patootee Arts’ participatory production of CORNWALLIS CLOTH, called for an established Black actress with presence, acting magic, stage craft and star dust; enough to carry high-quality collaborative storytelling, blending complete newcomers, rising stars, veterans, and gifted amateurs (including marvellous character performers who happen to be living with dementia).

Praise for Jennifer 2-times…!! Audience feedback is telling us that we’ve hit our mark by breaking conventions and starting new conversations: ‘An ordinary Black Caribbean civilian woman centre-stage in WW2’, ‘decades of archival silence gloriously shattered’, and ‘storytelling set in 1930s and 1940s Barbados that’s truly of Barbados folk culture – not Jamaica serving as default West Indian’.

Our CORNWALLIS CLOTH heritage drama film along with its supporting factual exhibition – inspired by oral testimonies of WW2 in the Caribbean – is currently showing at London’s iconic Old Royal Naval College until November 2026.

CORNWALLIS CLOTH is an IWM 14-18 NOW Legacy Fund commission, in partnership with Sweet Patootee Arts
